TAGHeuer: Famous for their watches, TAG have developed a world-class range of frames & sunglasses. Tough, lightweight materials have some models weigh in at 7g, around 50% lighter than equivalent metal frames. Precision coatings & tints in the sunglass range cover outdoor, driving, skiing & water sports, with polarised options. |
Gold plated frames minimise dermatitis & allergic responses. Low quality nickel-based alloys are prone to cause skin reactions. Titanium frames are also 'reaction free' & the strongest & lightest. We have a broad range of gold, platinum, titanium, stainless steel, aluminium & acetate frames in stock. Some titanium spectacles weigh less than 2g. Surely a benefit for the nose at the end of a hard day?
Spectacles form the largest group of vision correction options. We pride ourselves on providing the highest quality spectacle lenses available - irrespective of the price range.

Optical technology is improving in leaps & bounds. Thick prescriptions that looked like 'cola-bottles' a few years ago, can today be fabricated in cosmetically stunning & functionally fantastic options. Anti-reflection coatings & high refractive index lenses make this possible. We can demonstrate reduced thickness. A great help to our clients.
With today's complex visual needs, influenced by computers, TV & motor vehicle ergonomics, 'single vision' spectacles & bifocals are no longer the best option. Specialised occupational & Business lenses are available to cater for complex requirements. Aspheric surfaces & aberration-controlled optics allow for previously unobtainable levels of vision with the minimum of disturbing distortions.

The 'new' millennium has seen the advent of some innovative spectacle designs. Silhouette's award winning Minimal Art range is minimalism at its best. Highly functional and desirable while stylish & fashionable to boot. Minimal art is NASA approved & worn by Shuttle Astronauts
Laminates in acetate eyewear are becoming more 'retro', mixing the old with the new: Interesting colours that look stunning together. Perfect for 'pret a porter' fashion. Elegant sophistication in chocolate browns & dark chromes to the bolder aubergine, purple, green & midnight blue. Metal & rimless frames have a look for every taste. We have seen the ever-popular oval shape give way to alternative shapes & shallow squares. In sunglasses 'big is back'. In this fashion conscious world the onus is on eye care professionals to deliver high quality lenses in a package that enhances the wearer's appearance & vision. Every wearer has their own needs & personality that need to be addressed individually. We have a wide variety to choose from...
Come in & see our competent, skilled & friendly staff. They will be pleased to accommodate your needs in both the fashion & technological aspects of choosing suitable eye wear.
Technological advances have dramatically increased contact lens options.
Most disposable options, whether 2-week or monthly [with solutions], dailies or extended wear work out to similar annual cost. It's a matter of finding a satisfactory lifestyle option. With dailies you simply throw them out. No cleaning or storage. Lenses will always be sterile, clean & free of the previous day's deposits, makeup, pollen, cleaners & chemicals. This allows maximum comfort & clarity not to mention health & convenience. Lens quality is excellent. UV protection potentially minimises the development of cataracts, pterygia & retinal degenerations. People who find inserting & removing lenses a hassle, or cannot see to care for them, may be suited to extended wear options where lenses can be left in the eye up to 30 days & nights. The ultimate in convenience.
B+B cater for everything from straightforward cases through to the most complex contact lens designs. We consult as specialists in the fitting & management of complex cases for colleagues & ophthalmologists. We design, prescribe, fit & manage unique & specially crafted lenses for;

This treatment goes under a number of names including Ortho-K, Orthokeratology and Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT)
A revolutionary non-surgical, non-invasive, safe and reversible treatment to reshape the cornea and correct low to moderate amounts of short sightedness (myopia), up to -4.25 D and low degrees of astigmatism whilst sleeping. Specialised high oxygen permeable 'reverse geometry' rigid gas permeable contact lenses are used to acheive this. With CRT you achieve clear, comfortable daytime vision, without glasses, day time contact lenses or refractive surgery.
Although Ortho-K or CRT has been practised for decades, it is only recently that high technology instrumentation has become available to accurately scan the cornea and manufacture precision lenses via computerised lathes that will achieve a controlled, precise and accurate reduction in the eye's optical imperfection. In addition developments in contact lens materials (high oxygen permeability) have enabled safe overnight wear.
The technique of modern CRT or Ortho-K is a safe and reversible alternative to refractive surgery which can also help slow down the progression of short sightedness: That is slow down the deterioration of eyes especially in children and teenagers. This is known as 'myopia control' and is supported by scientific research. The cornea, whilst being mouldable, reverts to its original shape if lens wear is stopped (hence this procedure is 'reversible' and safe).
The treatment is exceptional and specialised and is managed and fitted by eye care practitioners highly trained in this area.
The main purpose of CRT is to be free of contact lenses andspectacles during the day and all waking hours. It appeals to today's active person who wants freedom from glasses and day time contacts but are under-age, reluctant or unsure about having LASIK surgery to correct their short sightedness.
It is ideal for sports people who want freedom from artificial aids (sport, athletes etc), people who suffer from dry eyes and irritability from contact lenses (eg: computer users). It also suits those who want to be free of optical correction during the day due to occupational requirements (eg: police, air crew, people working in dusty environments etc) or those with specific recreational needs where daytime contacts or glasses are inconvenient (eg: swimmers, water polo players, motor cyclists etc). People who are unsuitable for refractive surgery because their eye sight has not stabilised or are apprehensive about having a "permanent" surgical change or are too young for LASIK surgery are also ideal candidates.
Because corneal refractive therapy (CRT) is non-surgical and reversible, it has a high safety profile and high treatment satisfaction rate.
Precision made, reverse-geometry, rigid gas permeable lenses reshape the central cornea (front of the eye) using 'hydraulic forces' in the tear film whilst sleeping with eye lids closed. The goal is that within the first 24-48 hrs of starting the treatment, the person has good functional vision. Full correction of myopia is usually noted by day 7-10 or sooner. The speed of corneal reshaping from one individual to the next may vary, but most patients will see 20/20 vision without any correction within days.
CRT is similar to refractive surgery or LASIK but unlike LASIK, the change induced is reversible and non-surgical and the effect is dependent on overnight lens wear. Unlike LASIK it does not involve removing cells, but rather moving them around or re-distributing the cells temporarily. For this reason, the inherent risks are minimal.
These are some benefits;
The initial assessment includes a full eye examination and computerized corneal topographical scanning of the front of the eye. This gives the practitioner a chance to assess both the refractive status and health of the eyes and also to determine the likely effect of the treatment in that individual. CRT lenses are then precision fitted using the results of the corneal scan to gently reshape the cornea towards less curvature to eliminate the short sightedness. The lenses will be worn for an initial "trial" period (up to 1 week) and the response evaluated. When the outcome is satisfactory and an improvement in eyesight and reduction of myopia occurs, typically within the first week, the treatment programme will commence and lenses will be prescribed to be worn every night, or two. Follow up appointments are arranged (lasting 30 mins per visit) at 1 month, 3 months, 6 months and thereafter an annual check up.
The procedure requires detailed care, specialised skills by a trained practitioner and requires state of the art technology. For this reason, the initial costs are greater than conventional contact lens correction but less than refractive surgery. Once the treatment is complete, the on-going costs are significantly less. The CRT lenses may need to be replaced every 2 - 3 years, or so. The treatment costs $1850. The fee includes the cost of custom-made lenses ($600 per pair). The fee is payable over a period of 2 - 4 months.
Refund policy: Should the treatment be discontinued by either the patient or practitioner for any reason within the first 4 weeks, then the patient will pay only the initial examination fee of $250. In this instance, other alternative options (including upgrade of soft disposable contacts or upgrade of glasses etc) can be undertaken, if desired by the client.
