The Latest in Contact Lenses...
Johnson & Johnson have again delivered a world first breaktrhough contact lens in the form of 1 Day Acuvue TruEye; the first high oxygen silicone-hydrogel single-use lens. TruEye is eliciting reports of "The best lens I've ever worn" and many similarly positive comments from delighted wearers.
1 Day MOIST lenses continue to provide wearers with similarly great vision & end of day comfort. OASYS & TruEye lenses allow increased levels of oxygen to reach the eye, providing better long-term safety and results. Both lens types have increased water retention and wetting properties with reduced surface friction providing a more lubricious surface leading to all round improved comfort. Dry eye symptoms, especially in air-conditioning and associated with computer use, are reduced. Daily disposable lenses are the safest, most convenient soft contact lenses and provide excellent comfort. OASYS is also now available to correct astigmatism.
Bausch & Lomb's Purevision Multifocals are also providing spectacle-free distance & near vision for those over forty with the potential for extended wear in suitable individuals. CooperVision's Multifocal is also providing excellent results and helps manage dry eye problems as does their new Proclear EP lens which is ideal for patients experiencing the beginings of near visual problems. CIBA also have new generation multifocal & toric lenses.
Contact Lens Solutions
Hydrogen-peroxide based systems for contact lens disinfection have proven to be best overall for decades. We have plenty in stock at very competitive prices. Value Packs offer the best cost saving.
As CIBA have discontinued their MIRAFLOW cleaner we reccomend that soft contact lens wearers switch to the new OptiFree Daily Cleaner or B+L's tried and tested Sensitive Eyes daily cleaner.
RGP or hard lens wearers should use B+L's Boston Advance Cleaner, Lobob Optimum Extra Strength Cleaner or OptiFree Daily Cleaner coupled with Bausch + Lomb's excellent Boston Liquid Enzyme cleaner for RGP lenses. This is a reccomended weekly de-proteiniser that helps keeps RGP/hard lens surfaces in pristine condition, particularly for those who build up excessive deposits.

Call in or have contact lenses & solutions couriered to you.
We strongly advise against altering your prescribed solution/disinfection/cleaning combination as we see significant complications arising from ill-advised solution changes. A pharmacy assistant who is unfamiliar with your eye history & contact lens type cannot properly advise alternatives. Not all solutions are suitable & they are not necessarily interchangeable. Different preservatives & disinfectants can cause reduced tolerance to lenses, 'dry eye symptoms', allergies, toxic reactions & potentially severe infections.
Replace contact lens cases frequently. Discard used/expired solution & never 'top-up' solutions by adding to solution in the case!
Only wear contact lenses prescribed specifically for your eyes. We see and hear of people who swap lenses with friends & partners or obtain lenses that were never fitted or prescribed for them. Such behaviour can have sight threatening consequences.
